2011-2012

Dear Fellow Members of the Indiana Pressler Memorial Chapter:

The list of Chapter achievements for 2010-2011 is long, and reflects the hours spent and efforts made by many dedicated volunteers throughout the year. Brad Willkie’s leadership and determination created an environment that enabled many to “Step Up” to the challenges presented to us. Our Chapter’s success continued the legacy built by the many capable leaders who have served us in the past. It was a great year!

As a hospital CFO, I know the landscape of challenges before the healthcare industry seems vast and daunting. There are folks here at Memorial in Jasper who have grown weary of hearing me say that the top line is not going to get any bigger. We have to do more with less while, at the same time, demonstrating that quality, effective care is being delivered.

Gregory Adams, 2011-2012 HFMA Chair, certainly considered our environment when he chose “Believe to Achieve” as his theme for the year. This theme encompasses the keys to success in our new and challenging environment.

We have to believe in the mission of our respective organizations. Essentially, we have to believe in what we do and why we do it. We have to believe in each other as we strive as a team to reach the best outcomes for our patients and organizations. We have to believe in ourselves and have confidence in our own abilities to succeed in this new era of healthcare reform that will undoubtedly require us to take risks and step out of our comfort zones. Finally, we have to believe in the possibility of a better future, because we have the opportunity to help shape health care for years to come.

"Believe to Achieve" also applies to how we sustain excellence within the Indiana Pressler Memorial Chapter of HFMA. We work to serve our membership the best we can. We must believe in each other and ourselves as we meet the demands of being Chapter volunteers, and we have to believe in the future of our Chapter in order to have the passion to shape it. We have some lofty goals for 2011-2012, and we can make them happen. Believe to Achieve!

Best wishes for a great year in HFMA,

E. Kyle Bennett, FHFMA, FACHE, CPA
